Introducing World Build: a collaborative program between World and FWB in partnership with Blockchain Capital, Alchemy, Bain Capital Crypto, and Variant to build and accelerate the next generation of breakout Mini Apps for World’s 22M users.

What's in it for builders:

- Up to $200K in grant funding

Phases:

- Phase 1: Apply to join the hybrid IRL / URL World Build hackathon via Luma in partnership with Blockchain Capital and Alchemy

- Phase 2: Winning teams advance to a fully funded residential build sprint in Buenos Aires, Argentina

- Phase 3: Teams participate in the online build program with direct support from World’s product and leadership teams

- Phase 4: Teams present at the in-person World Build Demo Day to top VCs including Bain Capital Crypto, Blockchain Capital, & Variant

Key dates:

- Hybrid Hackathon online & in NYC: February 6-8, 2025

- Residential Build Sprint in Buenos Aires: February 21-28, 2025

- Online Build Program: March-April 2025

- IRL Demo Day: May 2025

First round applications close February 1st. Early applications receive priority consideration. FWB Members will automatically be approved to attend the Hybrid Hackathon after applying! 

Why Build on World

World Network has over 10 million verified users, with ~380K people joining every week.

Each new user is onboarded through a single app—World App—and every World App user is fully onchain with a self-custodial wallet, free transaction fees, and a World ID. Combined, World has something brand new: a large, growing, fully onchain, verifiably human audience that is instantly accessible to builders. 

What We’re Looking For

World Build is looking for Mini Apps that provide utility, financial access, and entertainment to World App users. Specifically, World believes the most interesting Mini Apps will take advantage of sybil resistance via Proof of Human and the integrated crypto wallet. 

World builders finding the most success are the ones building from scratch for the context of Mini Apps. This is because Mini Apps have some unique characteristics:

• 100% mobile audience reached via World App 

• Many users receiving the WLD airdrop and have funds ready to use 

• 100% of transaction fees covered

• Users generally unfamiliar with crypto-native primitives & language 

• World Chain is part of the Optimism Superchain
